In this and recent S-TEC Approach issues we have stressed that a careful inspection of an airplane and its records are critical to an accurate quotation, which hopefully leads to a successful sale and a trouble-free installation. Our Sales and Flight Engineering Department personnel have experienced some challenging conversations with S-TEC dealers who found out very late in the process that our STC did not apply to the specific airplane they were doing an S-TEC installation in.

Please reread Mike Keirnan's article in the April 1998, S-TEC Approach and read Dennis Tolleson's column "Before You Quote" in this issue.

We know that you sometimes can't inspect an aircraft before you quote an S-TEC because it might be from another airport. We do recommend that you do so whenever possible. In cases when you can't, you might develop a series of questions for the owner about airframe mods and repairs. These should help you and will certainly alert him/her to the impact of these areas of concern.

Our Dealer Demonstration Module has been out almost constantly since we offered it in February. It has been all over the U.S. and to England as well. It just left for England for a second time and is scheduled to go to Scandanavia and Australia before the summer is out. Dealers who have used it say it is an excellent selling tool. Since we schedule it on a "first come, first served" basis, call early if you want it.

Things here at S-TEC have been very exciting in recent months. Your very active sales efforts have allowed us to expand our production capabilities and facilities. We have increased our production area dramatically, and our employment level is up over 30% since a year ago. And many, more exciting things are on the horizon for S-TEC and you as an S-TEC dealer.
