Installation Secrets
Control Wheel Switches Required or Optional?by Butch Nimmo, Tech Rep
Finding the available space on an aircraft to install an instrument or even a small switch sometimes becomes a difficult chore. Installers are often left scratching their heads as to where to place that switch on an already crowded control wheel. In fact, many installers begin to wonder, "Is it OK to leave this or that switch off of the control wheel?"
An S-TEC installation bulletin is very specific concerning which switches are required and which are optional. If a bulletin does not specify that the switch is optional, it is required and needs to be installed.
Due to this lack of available space on the control wheel and the fact that some switches are required, the installer must be very creative to insure that all of the switches that must be on the control wheel actually are.
The chart below can be used as a reference guide for all of our systems currently being manufactured. This is only for reference; the installation bulletin should always be consulted for the latest approved information.
