The NEW Standard
S-TEC autopilots found on 1999 Piper and MooneyS-TEC Corporation and The New Piper Aircraft, Inc. announced on October 24 at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Expo in Palm Springs that the S-TEC System 55 autopilot will be standard on the 1999 Piper Saratoga II HP and Saratoga II TC and optional equipment on the 1999 Piper Archer III.
S-TEC and Mooney Aircraft also announced on October 24 that the S-TEC System Thirty autopilot would be standard on the new Mooney Eagle.
These two announcements followed an August 1998 ceremony, where Piper announced the S-TEC System 550 as the standard autopilot for their new Piper Meridian.
During the rollout ceremonies for the single engine turboprop at their facilities in Vero Beach, Florida, Piper announced S-TEC as one of the avionics team members along with Garmin International, Inc. and Meggitt Avionics, Inc.
"The OEMs have discovered what our dealers and aftermarket customers have known for years-if you want a high quality autopilot at an affordable price, you want an S-TEC," said David Alexander, CEO and President of S-TEC Corporation.
Other standard S-TEC components in the Saratoga avionics package include a ST-180 HSI, Single-Cue Flight Director, and DME 450. An S-TEC Altitude Selector/Alerter and ADF 650 will be optional equipment in the Saratogas. Optional S-TEC components in the Archer III avionics package include a Directional Gyro, Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI), Single-Cue Flight Director, Altitude Selector/Alerter, DME 450, and ADF 650.
Additional S-TEC components in the Meridian avionics package include a DME 450 and ADF 650.
Additional S-TEC components that are standard in the Eagle avionics package include a ST-180 Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) and manual electric trim.
"S-TEC is the NEW Standard by which aircraft owners and pilots will measure flight control systems in the new millennium," stated Alexander.
