S-TEC Attends Twentieth AOPA Expo
In 1979, S-TEC Corporation attended the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Expo for the first time. S-TEC had only a handful of employees and did not even have a product for sale, but expectations were high for the company's founders.
Just recently, S-TEC attended its twentieth AOPA Expo on October 23-25, 1998 in Palm Springs. What a difference twenty years makes.
Since that first expo, other businesses have gone by the wayside; the company's competitors have been bought out and changed names while S-TEC became a mainstay during those years. And what about those expectations?
S-TEC now offers 11 flight control systems and holds over 1500 autopilot supplemental type certificates (STCs). "Since that first year at AOPA, our product base and employee size has dramatically changedÑbut not our attitude. S-TEC still offers the highest quality product, assembled by employees who are experienced and care about the final product," said David Alexander, CEO and President of S-TEC Corporation.
While maintaining an 81 percent share of the general aviation aftermarket during 1998, S-TEC announced at a press conference held October 24 that the company had autopilots as standard or optional equipment on five additional OEM aircraft.
