Project Engineer – Emphasis in Mechanical Engineering
(#07-22)

This position applies to mechanical engineering of aircraft component interface and installation.  Perform complex engineering analysis, design, drafting, and associated tasks requiring the use of Standard Manual and computer drafting for mechanical installation of aircraft components. Assist other employees in a variety of activities including preliminary design preparation, gathering data, aircraft and system surveying, maintenance and modification of drawing packages, and company compliance documentation. Proficient AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience is a must.  This position requires an avid knowledge of aircraft avionics installations and interfaces and an ability to apply that knowledge to daily mechanical drawings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Design, generate, and/or modify detailed parts (i.e. intercostals, brackets, mounting supports, sheet metal fabs, CNC designs, composite cabinet designs); assembly detailed drawings; F.A.A. STC installation drawings; 3D models for ergonomic, interference, and F.E. testing environments.

Create and maintain 3D (SolidWorks) library of solid models (i.e. standard hardware, S-TEC parts, major and minor assemblies, and STC installations); Must be familiar with standard engineering processes (i.e. ANSI, ASME, ISO, etc.); Solve mechanical engineering problems at component through system level

Four year college degree in aeronautical or avionics related field is highly desirable.  At a minimum, an Associates degree (AA) and drafting experience working in/among general aviation aircraft or pre-engineering from a vocational school with four years related experience.

Ability to transcribe design concepts and/or prototypes into final drawings is a must.  Must possess 5 years AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience, along with MS Office Suite programs experience.

 

Engineering Manager
(#07-18)

Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 8 years experience in the General Aviation field.  Supervisory experience of small groups, in a highly active, schedule driven environment, with oversight of multiple concurrent projects is required.  Engineering or Supervisory/Project Management experience is essential.  Strong written and verbal skills required. 
Experience should include modification experience with a specific Electrical/Avionics focus.  Expertise in modification drawings, system interfaces, vendor communication, and customer service experience, DER a plus.   Exposure to regulatory requirements is a plus, but not mandatory.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the Design effort for all Flight Engineering projects related to Electrical / Mechanical system design in advance of aircraft arrival.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review of candidate aircraft for applicability to proposed modifications.
  • Generating design specifications for customer approval.
  • Interface with FAA and DER’s for design philosophy and final approval.
  • Supervising employees in Design, Drafting, and Documentation.
  • Interface to shop floor for capturing changes during installation.
  • Generating all design documentation required for STC approval of S-TEC equipment installations, including Electrical and Mechanical Drawings.
  • Ground Test Plans and other documentation for project approvals as required. 
  • Documentation coordination/assembly in support of the DAS for submission to the FAA.

 

Technical Representative – Customer Support
(#07-19)

This position is responsible for answering dealer and customer request for assistance via telephone and email. Occasional travel to assist dealers and customers with resolution to autopilot discrepancies may be required.  In this position, you are required to maintain accurate paper and electronic files on Customer Support activities.  

Two year degree or trade school certificate in Electronics Technology and a minimum of 5 years related experience in avionics / autopilot installation and troubleshooting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous customer support experience, FCC License, FAA Airframe and Powerplant License and / or FAA Pilot License a plus.

 

Installation Technician
(#07-33)

Installation of autopilot systems into General Aviation Aircraft, including the design, fabrication, and installation of prototype brackets, review detailed installation documentation, troubleshoot electrical interfaces using OEM and dealer electrical schematics.  Heavy emphasis on analog and 429 interfaces.

  • Perform installation, routing and terminating of wires.
  • Build wire harness assemblies
  • Troubleshooting and repair of various General Aviation aircraft avionics and electrical systems.  Conduct operational checks of complete systems to verify proper functioning of components and systems.  Diagnose malfunctions or failures and make adjustments, repairs or replacements of parts or components.
  • Perform preflight inspections to aircraft
  • Properly fill out records on maintenance or alterations being performed.
  • Prepare and install required instruments or test equipment for flight test
  • Read and understand applicable maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, illustrated parts catalog and engineering documentation required for modification or maintenance.
  • Perform service and maintenance on ours and customer aircraft.
  • Meet strict standards of accountability and responsibility toward fellow members of the department, to include working additional hours, odd hours and weekends.
  • Coordinate design activities with Flight Operations engineering and conduct necessary reviews to determine accuracy of design drawings and data.

Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or four to five years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A& P License a plus.

 

Designer I
(#07-29)

Assists in the mechanical design of components and products by performing the following duties.  Direct supervision is required in order for individual to meet established goals.

  • Through the direction of an engineer, formulates conceptual designs to meet customer requirements.
  • Assists with prototype build, and manages development configuration by tracking changes, and preparing ECOs
  • Creates CAD models, simulations, animations, and renderings as needed to support the development process.
  • Considered an expert user of the CAD software
  • Assembles prototypes and test fixtures.
  • Coordinates drawing package activities for new products.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and vendors.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Associate's degree (A. A.) from a two or four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Individual should have in depth knowledge of 3D parametric CAD software SolidWorks software and working knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

This position applies to an electrical engineering position.  Responsibility is to perform complex design, drafting, and survey engineering tasks requiring the use of standard manual and computer drafting for electrical installations. Assists other employees in a variety of activities including preliminary design preparation, gathering data, aircraft and system surveying, maintenance and modification of drawing packages, and company compliance documentation. Proven experience AND proficiency in AutoCad or SolidWorks experience is a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design, generate, and draw detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, avionics component interfaces
  • Design, generate, and/or modify assembly detailed drawings.
  • Design, generate, and/or modify F.A.A. STC installation drawings.
  • Design, generate, and/or modify 3D models for ergonomic, interference, and F.E. testing environments.
  • Design and/or generate company drawing release and modification documentation.
  • Interface with other internal departments, customers, F.A.A. Representatives.
  • Implement 3D design technology (SolidWorks) where applicable into Flight Engineering Electrical Department; including training, setup configuration, and managing.
  • Creating and maintaining AUTOCAD and/or 3D (SolidWorks) library of electrical models (i.e. standard hardware, interfaces, wiring separation, S-TEC parts, major and minor assys, and STC installations).
  • Must be familiar with standard engineering processes (i.e. ANSI, ASME, ISO, etc.)
  • Solve electrical engineering problems at component through system level
  • Apply engineering knowledge to the design and development of new products as well as product changes and enhancements.
  • Conduct testing utilizing existing test procedures or develop new ones as needed.

Four year college degree, preferably in the engineering, aeronautical or related field. Or, Associates degree (A.A) and minimum five years drafting experience working in/among general aviation aircraft.

Ability to transcribe design concepts and/or prototypes into final drawings. Must have 5 years AutoCAD or SolidWorks and MS Office Suite programs experience. Must demonstrate AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience.
